Where Are They Now?

Mark & Roberta Roslund

What motivated you to plant your church in the city of Winnipeg?
We moved to Winnipeg from Edmonton in 2015 to join a local church as the youth and young adult pastors and immediately fell in love with our city. We soon realized that Winnipeg was the most underrated city in Canada and that we were home. There is so much beauty and culture and the people are so kind, friendly and generous. It was clear as soon as we moved that we were called to the city of Winnipeg and we needed to plant our church here when the time was right.

What is your favourite thing to do in Winnipeg with friends and family?
Believe it or not the local food scene is incredible so we go out to eat quite often. We also frequent a beautiful indoor/outdoor space called The Forks which, fun fact, has more visitors each year than Banff. It’s the first place we take all of our friends who visit. Oh, and of course coffee shops daily.

You planted mid pandemic. It would have been so easy for you to make excuses, push back your launch or give up all together, but you didn’t (and we’re so thankful). How did God help you remain confident in your calling and His vision for Rose Church during such uncertainty?
We went back and forth a lot but just felt God saying “Go.” Not knowing anything else, there was a beauty and wonder in the beginning of it all. We felt that God wanted Rose Church birthed then and there in the midst of the pandemic. We have been surrounded by the most incredible team that have the best hearts and so much talent.

What has been one of your greatest moments since planting your church?
Seeing people find the hope of Jesus and a home at Rose. Anytime someone tells us, “this is home,” it makes every difficult moment worth it!

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself or your church since you planted?
Since planting Rose Church our faith has increased and we have seen how God has grown us to rely more on Him and His word.

What would you say to someone thinking about planting a church in Canada right now?
DO IT! This country needs more churches! If it is on your heart, take the next steps and call us. We’d love to help and answer any questions you have!

How has being part of ARC impacted your life and family?
ARC not only trained us but they resourced us. We would not be where we are without them! Even in moments where we have walked through difficult times, ARC has been there. We have so many other pastors cheering us on and encouraging us!
